Director of Development

Progressive non-profit organization located in West Los Angeles seeks an experienced fundraiser and financial manager to join our small, fast-paced, dynamic, entertainment-based organization that works in Africa and the US on the AIDS pandemic, civil and voting rights, and empowering youth.

Responsibilities include: developing and implementing strategies to raise funding from major donors, producing high-profile special events, securing sponsorships, cultivating corporate and foundation support; board and donor relations; grant writing; managing on-line fundraising, including auctions; coordinating product development and marketing; overseeing materials production, including direct mail campaigns and annual reports; developing and maintaining organizational and project budgets; working with accountant and CPA to manage organization’s finances, create financial statements and 990s, and overview other fiscal matters.

Qualifications: We are looking for an outstanding, hard-working individual with a minimum of 5 years fundraising experience and a fundraising track record, who is dedicated, detail and results oriented, flexible, and able to juggle numerous projects. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and computer skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of the entertainment community, South Africa and U.S. civil rights is a plus. We are looking for a team player who is highly intelligent, self-motivated, very detail-oriented, extremely resourceful, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

This is a full-time position, with some evenings and weekends required. Salary is commensurate with experience with excellent health benefits, pension fund, and vacation policy. Intern or Volunteer with Artists for a New South Africa


ANSA is looking for people with the following skills and attributes:
  • Passion about making a difference in the world;

  • Experience with Microsoft Office;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to take initiative and direction;
  • Well-organized;
  • Flexible and open-minded;
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse racial, national, cultural and economic backgrounds;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Intern positions: 10-20 hours per week in friendly west LA office. Casual dress is acceptable. Will train on computer database, phones, event production, etc.

Volunteer positions: Periodic. Includes helping with projects in the office as well as assisting at events and projects, predominantly in the LA area but occasionally in various locations across the U.S.

Responsibilities include: Helping to coordinate projects and events; preparing materials; research; assisting staff with event production; answering phones; maintaining database and files.
