A Day of Hope: Fight AIDS in Africa - April 10, 2002
ANSA co-organized with Health GAP, ACT-UP, and Jubilee 2000, A Day of Hope: Fight AIDS in Africa, a rally on
Capitol Hill and a day of lobbying and advocacy, in response to the insufficient U.S. contribution to the Global Fund.
ANSA arranged for actor and ANSA co-founder Danny Glover to join religious leaders, Members of Congress, and a
thousand people living with HIV/AIDS at a Capitol Hill rally to call for increased U.S. support of the Global Fund.
Glover and leading AIDS experts met with key Senators and Congresspeople, while other participants visited 130
Congressional offices, delivering an ANSA letter signed by 36 prominent artists including Gillian Anderson,
Angela Bassett, David Bowie, Ted Danson, Whoopi Goldberg, Iman, Sidney Poitier, Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, and Alice Walker.
